EVENTS

One of my first found loves was planning events. Thanks to my keen eye for detail, I've always had a knack for executing them. Throughout the years, I have strategized experiential marketing events for various companies, as well as hosted and put together events for many school organizations, and my personal life! Below are some of my favorite events I have created and curated.

OLAY Super Serum Launch Event

I was a Public Relations Fellow at Small Girls PR, a creative communication agency. During this fellowship, I strategized for OLAY's launch of their Super Serum. This involved me pitching opportunities to editors to cover the event. I was in charge of the media briefing book for the clients, as well as guest engagement. To wrap up the event, I created a recap report before we lifted the embargo for media coverage.

Bumble Bar Tab | The Last Hoorah

To end my time as Campus Director in the Bumble Honey Ambassador Program, my team and I hosted our last bar tab for Hampton University students. We collaborated with the venue to create a signature honey drink inspired by the app. Our team's events became something that Hampton students looked forward to-- especially our bar tab events. We had a huge turnout and a sold out tab in under an hour. This particular event resulted in a high amount of social media coverage as well as downloads for the app.

Red Bull Paper Wings

As a Red Bull Student Marketeer, I was responsible for the publicity of the Virginia Beach Red Bull Paper Wings Competition. This included traveling to different venues in the Virginia Beach area and using different marketing tactics to invite people to the competition. My responsibilities also included finding a venue, caterers, and a DJ for participants to experience Red Bull in a fun, interactive way. Event attendees were encouraged to construct paper airplanes and throw them for the chance to qualify for a national competition. They were also encouraged to try new and classic Red Bull flavors at our 'open', Red Bull mocktail bar.

Breast Cancer Pajama Party

I was the External Events Co-Chair for an organization on my campus called 'Black is Gold.' I also served as Miss Women's Caucus for my campus' Women's Caucus and was responsible for coming up with community service initiatives. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I facilitated a Black is Gold and Women's Caucus collaboration to put on a Breast Cancer Pajama Party. Attendants were required to wear pink pajamas as we discussed the importance of breast cancer awareness, conducted proper bra fittings, decorated bras, and wrote encouraging letters to breast cancer patients.

Bumble x Pheobus Dive Bar

To celebrate the end of the semester and promote the app Bumble, The Hampton University Bumble Honey Ambassadors hosted a Bar Tab at Phoebus Dive Bar. When people showed their Bumble profiles, they were able to receive a free drink. We gave out free merchandise and everyone mingled. We had over 100 people show up, which allowed us to tab out. This event created 'buzz' about Bumble and resulted in over 60 downloads in one night.

R&B n' Paint

I was given the task of putting on an event that promoted positivity. 'Sip and Paint' events are very popular at Hampton University.  To put a twist on your average 'Sip and Paint', my team of Hampton Ambassadors helped me put together an 'R&B and Paint' event. We had about 50 students attend this event. We provided paint supplies and refreshments to anyone who came with a Bumble profile set up. R&B music was played throughout the night, while everyone painted and relaxed.

Chick-Fil-A for Change

November is always a good time to give back to those who are in need during the holidays. Instead of your average canned food drive, I promoted and hosted an event that raised canned goods for the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank. For every two canned goods, students received a free Chick-fil-A sandwich. We were able to show that Bumble cares about the community and collected over 142 lbs. of food items.

Bumble x Pour Girls | Restaurant Tab

Women empowerment is really important to me, so it's always fun when I get to incorporate that into the events I curate. I was able to host a restaurant tab at a women-owned restaurant and bar that was local to the Hampton Roads community. For every Bumble profile shown, people were able to get a percentage off their tab. We had a Photo Booth and free Bumble merchandise as well.

Annual Black is Gold Ugly Sweater Christmas Party

Giving back during the holiday season is just as important as having fun and spreading holiday cheer. As External Events Co-Chair for Hampton University's Black is Gold, I was able to orchestrate our first annual Christmas Party. We invited every Hampton student organization to mingle, decorate Christmas ornaments, and write letters to children in need, To gain entrance, each organization had to provide two toys for every member that came. We were able to donate over 100 toys.

Black Girls Get Fit

To focus on health and fitness, Hampton University's Black is Gold created a series called "Black Girls Get Fit."  Throughout the week, we had a media campaign about fitness facts, wellness resources,  and black owned fitness clothing brands. At the end of the week, I put together a workout event. We had a personal trainer come and teach a fun workout class and give fitness tips. Every participant was gifted a custom water bottle and fruit smoothie.

Jefferson City High School Senior Class Prom Dinner

As senior class president of my graduating class in high school, it was my job to put events together for our class to bond. It was always a tradition for the senior class to eat dinner together before prom, but I wanted the venue to be more special than a back room in a restaurant. It took a lot of convincing, but I was able to host a sunset dinner on the football field. I hand- picked the catering and was even able to get sponsorships from local businesses to supply our dessert options.

Zoë's Class of 2019 High School Graduation Soiree

I love traditional events like graduation parties, but I always love putting my own twist on them. Instead of having my graduation party at a restaurant or in my backyard, I opted for an old-school cinema because I fell in love with the character of the venue. My chosen theme was white and gold so that it wouldn't take away from the charm of the cinema theater.
